Balinese Village

Friday, 28 January 2011
Balinese village is somehow important for local society, becoming home for Balinese people. This is also a place to live and to create many art works, worship, and at the same time representing the brotherhood spirit of the Balinese people. Here, in the village the Balinese people always help to each other, they put the public importance above anything else. When the Bali vacation enthusiasts have excursion or Bali tour on the island, you may find that these villages resemble one to another. This is caused by the concept of Balinese who really concern with the balance of life. What makes the Balinese people fully aware with this concept is the Tri Hita Kirana, explaining the three major points of reference to balance the environment with their daily lives.

There are many elements of Balinese village that can be discovered when you enjoy vacation in Bali. In a village we can find Pura Puseh or the temple of origin that is built to commemorate the village’s creator. Also, there is a Pura Desa as the village’ main temple as well as the Bale Agung as the place where the committees of the village meet and gather up. In a Balinese village there are some Banjar or we may recognize them as the association of about fifty up to two hundred inhabitants. The people occupy Banjar are given then same rights and obligations that must be obeyed, no matter who they are.

The spirit of brotherhood amongst Balinese people becomes a prominent point of interest for many travelers, both domestic and international. Of course, apart from the people, the temples in village are also magnets for many Bali travel individuals to come and see what these sacred places really like. For example the Pura Desa which is situated in the heart of the village, where gatherings of the village congress and the Hinduism rituals are conducted. The temple in every Banjar is also attractive to see when you join a tour in Bali, even though it is not as big as Pura Desa. When it comes to festivals or holy days, the people in each village and Banjar is busy to prepare everything that they can perform to the society.

In addition to that, in a village there must be a school, traditional market, the rice fields, the graveyards, and wantilan that are commonly utilized as large area where the Balinese people do the cockfight or perform the public dramas or dances. The Balinese people have the strong sense of belonging to their village or Banjar. If something occurs in society then they usually give their hands since the concept of a Banjar is about sharing of joy and pain in life. The existence of these villages is precious, making those Bali vacation goers excited to join a Bali tour to see how the Balinese people live and keep their cultures.
